  Course Overview

  • From the eloquence of Surah Al-Fatiha to the intricate narratives of Surah Al-Baqarah, this course will conduct a cover-to-cover study of the entire Qur’an. Students will follow the English translation of Tafsir al-Jalalayn. Every chapter will be meticulously examined, unraveling its historical context, linguistic nuances, and profound spiritual lessons. Engage in thought-provoking discussions designed to deepen understanding, foster personal growth, and nurture a strong connection with the Qur’an.

  Who Can Take this Course?

  • Anyone who wants to understand and comprehend the Qur'an at a holistic level.

  • There are no prerequisites. The text is fully English. Come with an open mind.

  • Open to everyone of any age range. Just be able to keep up.

  Student Expectations

  • Attend class live every week as much as possible. Though recordings will be available after, the course is built on engaging in discussion. Recordings will only be sharable with enrolled students.

  • Course load is not heavy. But, be aware of the discussions and topics in the book.

Meet Your Instructor

Imam Nihal Khan is the founder of Maktab Academy and an Instructor at Fawakih Institute. He received an 'alimiyya degree from Nadwatul 'Ulama in Lucknow, India, a MA in Islamic Studies from the Hartford Seminary, studied at the Harvard Divinity School, and holds a BA in Psychology from Montclair State University. In addition to working with masjids, Imam Nihal has been a chaplain at hospitals and jails. You can read more about him at his personal website.
